MY PERSONAL REVIEW:

THE FIRST CV:

The address details: Since a CV should just consist of two pages it would make more sense if a job applicant would keep these details in just two lines.

The summary: The profile of the job applicant is very short, kept very general and doesn't highlight the qualification and experiences that the person has. He is obviously underselling himself and doesn't attract a recruiter's attention as he could.

Technical skills: The candidate emphasises his technical skills at the beginning of his CV. Since the applicant didn't apply for a technical position but a managerial position he should have presented a mixture of technical and managerial skills rather than just focusing on his technical skills. However, this approach would be perfectly fine for a software engineer.

Experiences: While the job applicant is doing a good job in describing his various jobs there is still room for improvement in order to sell himself more effectively to a prospective company. The jobseeker focuses on his job responsibilities but misses out on his key achievements. Furthermore, it is a bit difficult to read, all the tasks could have been structured a bit better.

Awards and recognition, memberships, certification: In this CV these points (except the membership) are not mentioned at all. A candidate should not take them for granted and forget to mention them in his CV. They can help to increase the chances of getting a job interview and might surely impress a hiring manager.

THE SECOND (IMPROVED) CV:

The address details: Here the job applicant keeps his details in two lines in order to gain space for the relevant information later on.

The summary: Here the reader gets a quite good understanding of what the jobseeker is capable of doing. The jobseeker understands how to sell himself in this crucial part of the CV by mentioning his skills and experiences much more effectively than in the previous CV.

Technical skills: The job applicant mentions his technical skills at the bottom of his CV. Since it is a managerial position he applies for, he focuses more on his managerial skills throughout his CV (in the "professional experience" section).

Experiences: The person's job experiences give a better overview of the candidate's job responsibilities and key achievements. Listing just job responsibilities wouldn't reveal anything about a candidate's performance. In this case it is clear what the candidate was able to achieve in various jobs. This was effectively achieved by mentioning figures and company results. This is something every job applicant should keep in mind when writing a CV.

Awards and recognition, memberships, certification: The jobseeker is again aware of the importance of selling himself by mentioning these kinds of achievements.

From an employer's perspective:

Generally speaking, we can say that a recruiter would be more impressed by reading the second improved version. This based on the following facts: it is better structured, the more detailed and attention-grabbing profile (summary), the key achievements gained in various jobs and other interesting facts (such as awards, membership etc.) which help to underline a candidate's competence and professionalism.

However, what both CVs didn't consider was to disclose some more detail in the education section, e.g. by mentioning the topic of dissertation or projects.
