Do you think a video CV might replace a traditional CV in the future? (Discussion)

I would say the video CV will definitely become more and more popular in the future. Whether the traditional CV on paper will completely disappear I don’t know, but I would say it might be used additionally. I could imagine that an employer would first look at a person’s video. If he/she thinks the candidate is good, he might have a look at the hardcopy of the CV …. Or would you first look at the CV and then if the candidate seems to be good, have a look at the video? Please share your thoughts!

Interesting idea. I’ve seen video job postings before and thought that was a good idea as it allowed applicants to see more of the company lifestyle, working space, and lots of other things that are interesting to know.

A video CV, on the other hand, I’m not really sure that would be a benefit to job applicants.. With videos, you either have to watch sections or skip them – there isn’t really a way to quickly review them. However, with a paper CV you can quick skim the paper looking for key words. I would be worried my video CV would be too easily overlooked.

It would make sense – as technology advances, so many everyday things become updated. For instance, I heard that in 2010 there will be some TVs available to purchase that are flat and made of plastic, so you can role them up and take them with you! I’m not sure whether to believe it or not.
